Dam Building In Atherton Tablelands

Design, Build & Repair

Knowledgeable and experienced with all aspects of earthmoving and excavation for dam building, Watto’s Earthmoving & Machinery Hire in Atherton Tablelands can design and build a dam to accommodate all requirements. Whether you need a dam for drinking water, livestock or crop production, we can help.

When it comes to water storage, understanding the intricacies of erosion, overflow channelling and nutrient supply, our key considerations are depth impact and safety. That’s why we begin every dam building project with an onsite inspection, enabling us to survey the land and determine whether it’s suitable to accommodate a dam, without creating environmental and safety issues.

Sediment control can be a big concern when it comes to dams, we design and construct them in a way that helps to minimise sediment build up, slowing down the pooling process of silt.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I build a dam on my property?

Before building a dam in Queensland, it’s important to obtain relevant approvals first. According to the Planning Act 2016, building new dams or modifying existing ones that are considered referable dams under the Water Supply (Safety and Reliability) Act 2008, are seen as assessable development.

What is a referable dam?

Prior to construction, dams are first risk assessed to make sure they will not cause any personal injury, economic or environmental damage to your property and those that surround it. A dam is referable when a failure impact assessment shows that its failure could put at least 2 people at risk.
